Toshiaki Komatsu

Toshiaki Komatsu is the Practice Leader of Industrial &
Consumer Practices in the Japan office of Hudson. In addition to
his management role within the firm, Mr. Komatsu is also
intensively involved in assignments as a senior consultant mainly
focusing on the Sales & Marketing positions within Industrial
sector.
He is also responsible for the assignments within Consumer
sector such as Food & Beverage, Advertising & PR
agencies, Apparel & Retail, and Entertainment & Media
industries.
Mr. Komatsu has been engaged in the recruiting business for
over 10 years, starting in 1995 in Asia where he worked until
returning to Japan in 2001. Mr. Komatsu started his career with
Sumitomo Corporation, a Japanese trading conglomerate, attached
to the Industrial Overseas Sales Department.
Mr. Komatsu is the author of “treetwise Your Career, the
Gaishikei Breakout”, published in 2002 and has produced a further
7 books since. He is frequently interviewed by both Japanese
& foreign media due to his expertise within the recruiting
business. Two additional books by Mr. Komatsu are due to be
released in early 2006.
Mr. Komatsu is a member of PMC (Personnel Managers Club), the
largest HR professional community for foreign affiliated
companies in Japan, and was the Vice Chairman of PMC in 2004.
Toshiaki Komatsu received his bachelor’s degree in Law from
Keio University, Japan, during which time he spent one year
majoring in Economics at Arizona State University in the USA. Mr.
Komatsu has to date, spent more than 10 years living overseas. He
is married with two children.
